Paul Scholes left the beer and pies to break into the big football
Manchester United`s former captain Gary Neville has revealed how he did not even think Paul Scholes could become such a strong player. They were part of the Red Devils School and then wrote their names in club history in gold letters. If someone had told me at the age of 12-13 that he would become one of the greatest, Neville began. Then he was so small and weak. There was no strength in him, and he could easily take away his ball. In addition, Paul had asthma and was unable to run for long. He missed speed and could not beat you on a sprint. In the school we had David Beckham, who had the best shot of all, especially those sharp centers. Nicky But was a midwife. And at the same time, when you look at Scholes, you see a boy who really knew the ball, but apparently could not survive the competition, Gary Neville continued.
The former defender then explains how Scholes did not get a chance to play for the qualities mentioned above, even getting to play as a left-backer. But everything changed in 1993 when Paul was already 18 years old. I think there was the moment when he stopped drinking beer and folding pies on Friday night, `Neville recalls. `His transformation in the next two or three years was incredible. Everyone in the club mentioned by
goldsoccertips was already appreciating it, and Sir Alex Ferguson said that if he did not become a footballer, we should all give up. And at the end of my career years later, I can say he was the best I`ve ever played with. In his Old Trafford career, Paul Scholes won 25 trophies, including 11 English titles, a record for an Englishman.
