Max Verstappen doesn`t know why he often clashes with Lewis Hamilton.


The fight for the 2021 title between the Red Bull and Mercedes drivers lasted until the last Grand Prix and repeatedly led to accidents. In 2022, Verstappen won the championship analyzed by goldsoccertips ahead of schedule, but still came into contact with Hamilton in Brazil, for which he received a fine.


I need to choose my words, but this year (2022) I fought everyone very hard and aggressively, but we didn`t crash. However, Lewis is a different story. Honestly, I don`t understand.


This year we didn`t fight as often. But in Brazil we came together - and I had no intention [of crashing]. I was accused of this - I think it`s dishonest. I would accept it if the incident was considered more of a racing incident.


But I do not understand. Maybe it`s a matter of different generations - we understand each other better [with racers of the same age], we race more carefully. I don`t understand. I don`t think I fight any differently with Lewis or any other driver. The day before we had an incredible battle with George [Russell in the sprint] - we closed the gate, defended, outbraked each other. It was a lot of fun and I wanted the same thing in the main race. Unfortunately, it didn`t work out.


I respect Lewis for what he has achieved, but I really don`t understand why we can`t fight like the others. Of course, everyone has a different approach. Charles [Leclerc] is a little different from George, Carlos [Sainz], Checo [Perez] or anyone else. I need to speak more carefully, as it will be perceived as criticism and people will start hating me. Well, I had no such intention, " said the two-time world champion.
