Red Bull driver Max Verstappen believes that modern Formula 1 cars are poorly suited to racing on urban tracks.


Verstappen has repeatedly touched on this topic in recent months - especially against the backdrop of the appearance of more and more urban tracks on the Formula 1 calendar.


According to the two-time champion, driving modern cars on narrow city roads is simply inconvenient and uncomfortable.


It`s very difficult, especially in qualifying. Making a perfect circle is incredibly difficult.


In high-speed corners - like those at Spa - things are 100 percent better, because there the driver can change something with his actions. While performing on modern urban tracks - especially behind the wheel of new cars - is the worst experience a driver can go through. Simply because the cars are too heavy and their suspension is too stiff.


I love the track in Singapore, it`s just great. But this year I was very disappointed with how the F1 car behaved there. You can no longer attack curbs at all. As soon as you drive onto the curb, the car jumps and almost throws you into the wall.


The emergence of another such track in Las Vegas? Honestly, I would rather go to Las Vegas for another reason.


More and more urban trails are appearing on the calendar. And I don`t like it at all. By its design, a Formula 1 car is not suitable for city tracks. The car really comes alive in high-speed corners. I understand that during the season (the organizers) need to hold several Grand Prix on city tracks and all that, but there shouldn`t be too many of them.


Personally, I prefer the old school tracks. Like Suzuki. A qualifying lap on a track like this is much more fun than a lap on any urban track, " Verstappen said.
