Mario Gotze told how he could move to Liverpool to join Jurgen Klopp. In 2016, I almost moved to a famous English team called Liverpool. The coach there was a man named Jurgen Klopp.
Perhaps you have seen his photographs? Tall, with a wide smile, very funny. Jurgen was my coach in Dortmund and I didn`t realize how lucky I was to have him. I ended up at his home in Liverpool, we were chatting in the living room along with our wives.
What makes Jurgen special is that he sees me as a human being. We didn`t talk much about football. He didn`t say: How can I convince you? What do you want?
He was asking me about life in general, and I think he said something like: Listen, Mario, you`ll play a lot and have fun on our site. I know that this is the most important thing for you. The club is amazing. Think about it.
I really wanted to play for him again.
But I also wanted to win it all. I was so impatient! Liverpool just finished eighth in England and Dortmund finished second in Germany. Dortmund also signed Andre Schurrle, one of my best friends in football.
