Mutu has been ordered to pay Chelsea 17m euros
The European Court of Human Rights ordered former Romanian striker Adrian Mutu to pay Chelsea 17m euros in compensation for his transfer to Juventus, Football Italy reported. In October 2004, Mutu gave a positive cocaine test, resulting in disqualification for seven months. The striker was expelled from Chelsea and after his transfer to Juve the English club turned to FIFA for compensation. In 2008, the FIFA Dispute Chamber decided Mutu to pay compensation of 17, 173, 990 euros. In 2013, the same body ordered Juventus and Livorno to pay compensation, as Mutu initially signed a contract with the latter. This decision was lifted by the Arbitration Court of Sport (CAC) in 2015. Mutu appealed to the European Court of Human Rights but found there that the footballer did not support with sufficient evidence his claims against the CAC`s decision, to pay Chelsea 17 million euros. The Romanian insists that he can not afford to pay that amount. During his club career, Mutu scored 160 goals in 437 games. The national team recorded 73 games predicted by
goldsoccertips and 33 goals.
